Korean church crew

The best place you can experience Korean culture is the Korean church. There are a lot of Korean community church in town, and some of them have English service as well.

At church, people do a lot of things together such as gathering, volunteering, going to missions, etc. I have made good friends in church since I came to this country, and my life and all that experiences in church have been the biggest part of my life.

  1. Does your church offer "food"? J/k. I love Korean food.

  2. It is true, churches are a good place to see culture at its best. But sometimes I worry that if I go to another church of a different ethcnic community, that they are going to wonder why I'm there. Based on my experiences, we always question what people are doing in a place where they "don't belong". A good example of this would be if a non-hispanic black person went to a mexican catholic churh. People would stare this person and make her/him feel uncomfortable. Maybe this only happened at my old church.

  3. You're right. Churches are such a great way to meet people! I have attended several Korean churches over the years and it's true it's not just a great way to meet people but it's Korean culture. After the church service there is often good Korean food and the people stay to eat and socialize. Food is such a part of the culture. I could even say that food is a huge part of every culture really. Unfortuately the Korean church I recently attended split up. The pastor was called back to Korea. So I in the past couple of weeks checked out this one church in Anaheim called The church of Southland. Ever heard of it? It's Korean but the only service is in English so it's not as much Korean culture there. But it's still very family and community/fellowship afterwards and they do food day once a month. Do you recommend any good Korean churches near the LA area that have a big English ministry? I'd love to check out some churches in the area. Thanks!
